St Chads Medical Practice

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our surgery and explain how the surgery operates.

The practice strives to ensure that you receive treatment from the most appropriate healthcare professional in a timely manner and may, from time to time suggest an alternative professional.

The practice offers one 10mins appointment per patient per problem. If a second patient wishes to attend at the same time, you will need to book a second appointment at the time when you make the appointment. You can choose to see any of the doctors who work at the practice but you may have to wait longer for an appointment when requesting one GP specifically.

Our current appointment system offers 10 minutes pre-book able up to Six weeks, we also offer on the day appointments with the doctor and a triage system daily, this is offered to patients who cannot get an appointment on the day but request urgent advice, the doctor will ring you during his morning surgery.

If you cannot attend your appointment, you must inform us in good time. This allows us to offer the appointment to someone lese who needs an appointment. Please consider using the text messaging service.

In order to ensure that patients can be seen in a reasonable period, the surgery operates a “Did not Attend” policy. Patients who repeatedly fail to keep or cancel appointments may be removed from the practice list and asked to find an alternative GP.  All patients will receive a letter every time they DNA an appointment you will be removed if you fail on either three consecutive occasions or six times within a six month period.

Let us know if more than one person in the family needs to be seen. We can give you a longer appointment if necessary.

All patients registered with the practice that have not been seen by a Health Care Profession within the last three years including patients aged 75 years or over are entitled to book an appointment to see any of the Health Care Professions at the next available appointment at St Chad’s.  All patients included on any register within the practice will be invited annually.

Please note one appointment is for one patient only.

Tell us if you want someone to accompany you during an examination or a private room to discuss any matters. Remember that the results of tests can only be given to the patient.

The doctors time is very precious and to try to reduce the time away from the practice, we aim to keep home visits for those patients that are genuinely housebound. In order to help us we would expect you to attend the surgery for Appointment’s wherever possible.

You can help us to improve the access to our services by:
